Sepia Burns

August 14, 2010
, originally uploaded by hailey elise.

The sepia burns of days past
Lives started, lived, and fizzled
Tender chiffon strung on wiry bones
Glowing, against the paleness of the cream

Princes, Nymphs, wary Sorceress
We played fairy tales instead of houses
And left our cards out on the meadow
Forgotten, in the mist of wallow

The sepia forest of civilization lost
Has it really been that long?
Since millions came and
Stomped
Silently over
Crisp fallen leaves
Crispy from hollowed tears
Crisped from the howling wind

The sepia thoughts of you
Is the only shade
That I do not mind being seeped in
Today
